2013 in review…

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 2:16 am

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,100 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

I’m Willing…

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 11:56 am

Missing thoughts is a very obscure thing,
like shadow ~ taking shape of whatever.
Silently and breathlessly resurface at the bottom of heart,
In a blink of an eye ~ shrouded me in loneliness.
I weakly fight against, especially at night.
Think of you till breathless.
Hate that I can’t immediately sprint towards you.
Loudly tell you ~
willing for you, I’m willing for you,
I’m willing to forget my name for you.
Even if just an extra second in your embrace,
No regrets losing the world.
I’m willing for you, I’m willing for you,
I’m willing to be left at the end of the world for you.
As long as you sincerely reciprocate with love, anything (i’m) willing,
Anything (i’m) willing for you.

First Year

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 11:57 am

Dear all,

I still remember the strong force I had when I first started off with this blog and that was the love, passion and hope I have for my little hometown- Sandakan. It was Oct 2009 when I had my first entry introducing Sandakan in my personal blog. Throughout the year, I’ve been constantly taking pictures and keep introducing places and Food in Sandakan. In such a short year, to date I have 4,880 views, 58 posts and 135 comments in my blog from the site stats.

Yes, I have to say that it’s not something very spectacular. I’m not even a famous blogger but each and every entries I’ve posted, I’ve put 100% of effort, research and dedication to it. Some of you might think I’ve nothing else to do or perhaps I’ve too much of free time. As well as some of you might also have this thought of me, trying to show my capability of being the Ambassador without being officially recognized. If anyone of you may have such perception on me, my apologies that I wasn’t able to express myself very well in words. Well, I’m not trying to clarify or score any impression points now but would just like to express a few words of mine.

To those who have been following my posts, I believe you know how much I love my hometown. I called it HOME, where I find this is the best shelter I’ve ever had and therefore, this little blog of mine was created. I just wanted to share what I’ve experienced in Sandakan and of course also to guide those who are interested to find out more about this place. For your information, I’m not receiving any fees for advertising these places. Neither getting paid nor expecting any return at this period of time. This is purely because I love my hometown – Sandakan. I want to see this place to be well known and to bring back some of the hometown memories to the Sandakians who are now not physically in Sandakan. Nevertheless, of course I do wish to have real readers who appreciate this little assignment of mine.

Ok, to keep it real simple, I would like to thanks everyone for dropping by, leaving comments and spending time to read my blog. I truly appreciate the time you all have spent especially to my supportive readers. Without your support, it won’t be a smooth sailing year for me and my blog. You guys are always welcome to visit my blog as many times as you want and raise any queries if you have any. I’ll be extremely glad to show you around of this beautiful place. Ahh, and also, leaving comments or feedback are welcome too. Always feel free to express your opinions and I’ll try my best to keep my blog up to date although this is not a promise yet. It will be a challenging year ahead for me and I will definitely keep you guys posted whenever possible.

Special thanks to my budd, Mr. Jacky Liu who has never stopped supporting me since I’ve started this blog. He has witnessed the growth of the blog. Thanks budd, no words can express my gratitude but you know the word from the bottom of my heart.

Another special thanks to Ms. Rachel Chung for the help in wordings in my entries. Mainly your participation in the editing part. Although they are not 100% the exact words but nearly close to what I wanted to say, thanks for reading my mind and heart effortlessly.

The following person I’m going to thanks stands a very important place in my heart. She has never left me no matter how despair I am. Never in before and never in future. She loves me with all her heart, without expecting anything in return. Always love me for who I am, who I wanted to be and who I’ll be. I’ll never be able to do that much without her love and care. The unconditional love given & the never-give-up spirit, they will be forever stored in my heart. Thanks my Mum.., for providing a safe home and to shower me continuously with the love in no matter good or bad times. No one loves me like you do and you are truly simply the best and irreplaceable. I love you Mum.

Thanks & Sincere,

Cedric Chai

ROAD to Sandakan~

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 12:27 pm

Dear Readers,

Prior to this post, I’ve just posted out the news of our ‘ Sandakan Day Memorial Service ‘ few days ago. Been reading the news from the Daily Express Sabah these days, reporting such great event which held in our home land. Bryce’s visit has made it so special and I would say a very much unforgettable day of the year for each and every one of us in Sandakan. It has marked as a day to remember.

“Many of their families and loved ones are here today too. Something extraordinary had sustained them, and something else extraordinary took over. “With the nourishment, shelter and safety provided by local Sabahans, some of you are here with us now, these men were nursed back to life and health,” Bryce said in the ceremony.

Honestly, I’m so proud of this. Therefore, here I would like to share my sincere gratitude and some of my thoughts to you guys. To those who had read the news from Daily Express Sabah, did you guys realise a simple truth from a statement that our Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman made? Alright guys, it probably had just slipped through the mind without realising it. He said :-

In the area of tourism, 533,000 Australians and 435,000 Britons visited Malaysia in 2009 but only 23,000 Australians and 32,000 Britons came to Sabah.

Hey, only 5% of them came to Sabah? We don’t need a calculator, you see. Distributing the percentage of 5%, how many of them have visited our home land Sandakan? Such a painful truth he has made. Not to say we have not got enough visitors visiting Sandakan, our young generations have also gradually moving out from our homeland to look for a better opportunity in the other side of the world.

What are we lacking of in our native land? Lack of job opportunities? Lack of media advertising? Lack of spending opportunities? Lack of population? Lack of places to visit? Lack of people with calibre? Lack of determination? Lack of hope? What are the answers? You guys gotta tell me.

I never forget where I came from. I always remember the road I’ve travelled. Never ever forget my roots. I wonder how many of them see and think like I do. I wish I could see many of you out there realise how beautiful our homeland is and try to make effort to beautify it even more. Let the people in the other side of world know how great this place can be. Dear Sandakanities, whether you are still living here or away from this land, we need the love from each and every one of you, we need people with big heart to the society, we need to show this undiscovered place to the others. I salute them- the Australians and British, they can make effort to pay respect and show gratitude to our heroes, so can we ! It’s not an empty land, it’s a hopeful place- Sandakan. Like what our Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said :-

“I hope this history is included in the education curriculum in all four nations. Sandakan holds a special place for our respective countries, and we will forever be bound by this shared history.”

Dear visitors and our Sandakanities, I’m sure this place will never fail to bring us with excitements, joy, fun and challenges. Believe me, it has more to offer. We just need some helping hands to bring it to the next level.

Thanks and warm Regards;

Cedric Chai (SA)

Don’t be serious, be sincere.

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 3:27 am

Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life. I use the word balanced before successful. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all good order. There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. Same is with life where health and relationships are the marble. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die.

One thing about nurturing the spark – don’t take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And, 50 years is just 2,500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up?

It’s ok, bunk a few classes, scoring low in couple of papers, goof up a few interviews, take leave from work, enjoy with your friends, fall in love, little fights with your loved ones. We are people, not programmed deviced. Don’t be serious, be sincere.

2009 Solution

Filed under: My Note — Cedric @ 8:00 pm

First of all, Happy New Year 2010 to my family, relatives, friends and everyone 🙂

Year 2009 is coming to an end and it is time evaluate year 2009 and  to commit the new year 2010 resolution.

1.) Health improvement –

For the past 2 months been joining friends to jungle trekking at Sandakan Rainforest Park located at Mile 5, north road, Sandakan approximately 1KM from Thsun Nyen Housing area. From very young age, i’m actually indirectly involved in jungle trekking which i myself also not realised on that. Not only jungle trekking, but more than that, i.e. river trekking and fishing, explored in different jungles to look for “rubber seed”, seeking wild fruits and eat them on the spot like survival game, and of coz take cigarettes without permission, i believe some of my old friends still can recall, right? Also, seek for Pitcher Plant (Monkey Cup aka Ma Liu Ang) and take the liquid inside the Picther Plant to apply on our hair, armpit and private part. Why? Because rumors said, the liquid helps to grow more hairs in everypart of our body! At that point we are plain, that’s why we are desperate to have hair all over our body, haha :). Actually, this is one of my friend favourate topic, Mr Jacky Liu. Every now and then, he will remind us on this story. Below is the sample of the pitcher plant where you still can found them at Sandakan Rainforest Park. For those who never see/experience them in real,  please let me know, i’ll show you guys.

2.) Career –

To moved on previous company (Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad) for 7 years 5 months employment, and, to start new in EON Bank Group, Sandakan Branch. My job task in EON Bank as Business Development i.e. to market business loan for small and medium enterprise (SME) as well as Public Listed company. Anyone interest in business loan for your company expansion or any of your friends looking for business loan, please do not hesitate to contact me or walk in to EON Bank Sandakan Branch to look for me, Mr. Cedric Chai.

3.) Education –

Nothing new i’ve learn this year 2009 in terms of theoretical 😦 next year have to work harder in this area. Practically on job training and dealing with customers.

4.) Self Improvement –

Continue to learn to become more organized and good time management. Also, do more exercise to manage stress and it’s work! Need to improve on emotional intelligence and be more patient 🙂

5.) Vacation –

2 trips to Peninsular Malaysia to catch up with old friends, colleagues and company trainings. Few trips to Kota Kinabalu for leisure, friend wedding and also company attachment. Be a tour guide to friends came back/from other places, and show them around Sandakan attractions and Sandakan nice foods 🙂 and will continue to do more/better in 2010.

6.) Contribution –

Not much contribution so far this year 2009, intend to join NGO’s body in year 2010 to widen up the network and knowledge.

I guess that is all for the year 2009 solution and starts planning for next year 2010 resolution 🙂
